Okay so I think we can all agree that the 20's is an extreme sport that we did not sign up for. The transition from kiddie adult too adult adult is wild, and there are so many nuances we don't discuss. I think one thing about the 20's nobody talks about is the struggle of transformation from old self to new self. That in between phase of #Shifting is extremely hard and I know many of us struggle with consistency and discipline. As a collective we do have this desire to grow in general whether it be emotionally, physically, spiritually, mentally, creatively, or financially but how do we get there? How do we face the bad habits we have formed over the years, and do the work to combat them. I don't have the answer because I'm still going through it, the one thing that is gauranteed is art, creativity, and expression. Alex Vaughn captured that with the visual #Anymore off of her latest project #Shift. The visual was filled with beautiful imagery and an array of different color scheme's like , graceful greens, neon yellows, sophisticated silvers, ruby reds, and all of the blue's. Full of baby hairs, afro's, du-rag's, jewelry, fur, funk, and hoop earrings, the disco funk 80's- 90's influenced visual was captivating while the message was still clear: "Things can't be the same anymore".

The video begins with Alex in a club surrounded by partying, drinking, drugs and sex. As she sits there & questions her entire existence, her friends are in the cut not engaging or acknowledge her at all. She eventually gets up to leave and they don't even notice until they realize they're missing out on a free ride to the next funtion then they mysteriously appear in the backseat of her car and force her to go to the next function. We've all had those moments where we've questioned everything and everyone, yet we were still complicit. The visual shed light onto what seems like a collective millennial struggle of evolution and the fight between old self & new self.

The stand out part of this amazing visual was the diner scene. This scene made the video more cinematic. Now at a different location the diner added a futuristic aesthetic. Alex walks to the end of the diner and guess who awaits her? The same situation she's been trying to shake. Alex finds herself facing the same toxic situations she's been trying to avoid. At this point, its clear that Alex is fed up. This scene is just a testament to how life works. If we don't have the courage, consistency, and confidence to vibrate out of the lower frequency we continue to put yourselves in, it'll come right back around twice as hard. It's frustrating dealing with people/temptation that will move us further away from our purpose. If not dealt with thoroughly they'll circle right back around. The visual brought it all together in sync with the message we needed.

There are so many interesting parts about being apart of the millennial generation, the collective shift in consciousness is my favorite. Our collective evolution reminds me of an endless cycle of shedding. In order to evolve we must "burn" down the parts that no longer serve us.

Ask yourself 3 things:

Are you ready to confront the parts of yourself that no longer serve you?

Are you ready to let go of your past self?

Are you ready to be burnt down & re-born?

After all is said and done, and you have found the courage to face "mortality", your rise from the ashes will be site to see.
